As an entrepreneur, Chef and the proud owner of the South Jersey Chefs for Seniors franchise for the past five years, I’ve had a unique perspective. Every meal we have crafted, every client served, has added a chapter to my story as a chef, underlining my commitment to manifesting greatness and being of genuine service.
A year ago, driven by this commitment and fueled by love, Cami and I founded the 'Groceries for Grandparents Fund'. Although relatively new, this initiative has grown rapidly, driven by an unwavering mission: to address the symptom of hunger, which so often stems from the deeper issue of poverty.
Every story shared with me, every grateful smile, reaffirmed my belief: food is not just sustenance. It's a transformative tool. Beyond its nourishing qualities, it has the power to address societal failures and inequalities. With this mission, the Groceries for Grandparents Fund has been delivering healthy, delicious meals daily to food pantries, homeless shelters, and low-income households throughout New Jersey.
But my vision goes beyond merely addressing hunger. Drawing from my experiences as a chef for the past 3 decades, I've recognized the transformative power of employment. I’ve involved the community in every step, from sourcing ingredients to meal delivery, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to be part of this journey, to share in the dignity of work, and to contribute to a greater cause.
In just a year, the Groceries for Grandparents Fund has become more than just a charity. It’s a movement. My entrepreneurial spirit, combined with my passion for service, aims to build an equitable food system, one that guarantees dignified food and economic opportunities for all.
My Nona always said to me when I was a little boy as she taught her cooking skills to me "waste is the enemy", whether it's the waste of nutritious food, potential, or resources. Each decision I make, each strategy I employ, is focused on sustainable, impactful solutions.
Reflecting on this journey, I realize that it's not just about feeding bodies. It's about nourishing souls, igniting hope, and creating a lasting legacy of love, dignity, and equity in New Jersey and beyond. Through my endeavors, I aspire not only to be an entrepreneur but a beacon of positive change, embodying the true essence of service and love.
